Welcome

Central Pennsylvania Youth Ministries, CPYM, is a non-profit organization based out of Shamokin Dam, Pennsylvania.  Our organization has been working in Central Pennsylvania since the mid 1940's.  We currently have clubs in Berwick, Bloomsburg, Selinsgrove, Mifflinburg, Milton, Lewistown, Mifflin, Juniata and Newport and Greenwood School Districts in Perry County.

As of January 1, 2009, we have started our West Perry Club which includes all of the West Perry School District and the Carson Long Military Institute in New Bloomfield.  Mark Foor came on staff to be a club leader for this area.

What We Do

CPYM uses as its basic outreach programs a club meeting and small groups. In order to have an effective ministry with young people we work long and hard at developing personal relationships with these young people. Any type of creative hanging out is at the heart of getting to know teenagers.  In addition, the following are also done:

1. Occasional mass rallies and concerts
2. Consulting and assisting church leaders in their youth work
3. Impact conferences and camps
4. Adult events
5. Counseling
6. Camping programs/back packs and retreats
7. Major teen events - Summer Camps and Xtreme Weekends in the winter
8. Missions Trips
9. Small Groups
10. Visiting students in school, and running school Christian clubs

Recognizing that a majority of today's young people attend no church - Jewish, Catholic or Protestant - our clubs provide a weekly, contemporary meeting whose aim is to relate the message and love of Christ to this vast mission field.

The undergirding philosophy of a club outreach is to present to middle/high school students a physical, mental, social and spiritual balanced life that communicates not only the relevance of Biblical Christianity but also clearly demonstrates Jesus as the Savior and Lord of the entire world.

Under direction of qualified and responsible leaders, club is done in a casual and informal atmosphere, it discusses the provocative and contemporary issues facing young people. Club does this in a language young people understand, and in a way that will not alienate nor scare off the friends they bring along. Alienation and fear occur most often when relationships are not being built with the teens who are attending. The meetings are weekly, usually held in homes or community centers. The twofold purpose of CPYM is to evangelize the entire school community and to teach/disciple a core group of committed young people. Our goal with this core group is to help them develop a Christian life style and a workable plan to relate their faith to non-churched youth at their school. Our primary emphasis in everything we do is evangelism.
